Gazprom Loses USD 120 M Daily over Conflict with Ukraine

The losses of the Russian energy monopoly "Gazprom" are skyrocketing, the Sunday edition of the Russian daily "Vedomosty" reported.

The publication points out that in the first week of the conflict losses from the gas quantities illegally held by the Ukraine have not been very high - in the vicinity of USD 40 M per day.

However, since January 7, the company had registered losses of USD 120 M per day, according to the article, adding that the daily profits of "Gazprom" for the fist half of 2008 have been estimated at USD 200 M.
