The supply of Russian natural gas via the Ukraine to Europe would resume "immediately" after independent experts arrive and check the gas flow between the two countries, Alexei Miller, CEO of "Gazprom" said on Thursday.

Miller, cited by leading information agencies and the Bulgarian BGNES spoke in Brussels after the conclusion of the meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Oleh Dubyna - CEO of "Naftogaz".

During the meeting the two have discussed the contract for the supply of natural gas to the Ukraine, according to Ilya Kochevrin, Executive Director of "Gazpromexport", who spoke before the Russian "The Echo of Moscow" radio, the Russian information agency ITAR-TASS reported.

When asked about the issue of resuming Russian gas transit trough the Ukrainian territory, Kochevrin replied that this was a topic for another meeting at a different level.

The "Gazprom" spokesperson confirmed earlier that Miller and Dubyna had a brief meeting in Brussels.

"They ran into each other in the European Parliament hallways," the spokesperson said.

When a reporter for the Russian "Novosti" agency asked the Ukrainian CEO in Russian to comment on the meeting, Dubyna replied that he did not speak Russian. After the question was translated in English, the CEO declined to offer any details.
