The American porn industry moguls Larry Flint and Joe Francis have asked the US Congress for a USD 5 B bailout bailout plan similar to that for car manufacturers because of the effects of the global financial crisis, the Telegraph reported Thursday.

"The porn industry has been hurt by the downturn like everyone else, and they are going to ask for the $5 billion", a spokesman for the founder of the Hustler Magazine Larry Flint told CNN.

The creator of the Girls Gone Wild video series Joe Francis is quoted as saying the American port industry was nowhere near a collapse but that a government bailout could be useful as a precautionary measure.

"As long as the government is handing out money, we want to be there to take it", Francis has stated in an interview for the TMZ website. In his words, the US Congress was helping America's most important businesses, and the porn industry felt it deserved assistance as well.

"With all this economic misery and people losing all that money, sex is the farthest thing from their mind... Americans can do without cars and such, but they cannot do without sex.", a statement of Larry Flynt reads, which urges Congress to "rejuvenate" America's sexual appetite.

No formal response to porn industry's bailout request has been released by the US Congress.

America has a thirteen-billion-dollar porn industry. DVD sales and rentals have dropped by 22% in the past year but its products fare much better online.
