As fighting between Israel and militants in Gaza continues, fears raised that a second front could open up, with rockets fired from Lebanon hitting northern Israel on Thursday morning.

Lebanon said it was trying to determine who fired the rockets, and that it was committed to the truce with Israel, as the attack left three Israeli civilians lightly injured.

Tel Aviv ruled out the involvement of Hezbollah in the incident, saying the rockets were of an outdated model that Hezbollah had not used for years, al-Jazeera reported. The Hamas movement also denied reports that it was behind the shelling.

Israeli warplanes have been carrying out intensive overflights over southwestern Lebanon, following the brief missile attack.

The Lebanese army said that the military and UN peacekeepers are adopting measures to bring the situation back to normal.
