Three Bulgarian citizens were arrested for pickpocketing in the trams in the city of Melbourne in December, the ABC News Australia reported Wednesday.
The two women and a girl have been charged with "attempted theft, handling stolen goods and processing the proceeds of crime." The three Bulgarian citizens are to be tried in court in February.
The police have confiscated their tourist visas. According to police data, there were about seventy cases of pickpocketing in the Melbourne trams in December.
The Acting Senior Sergeant Matt Volk is quoted as saying that people had to be more aware of their surroundings and protect their belongings.
