The Czech Presidency of the EU kicked off Friday by declaring that the natural gas row between Russia and the Ukraine was a bilteral issue.

The Czech EU presidency spokesman Jiri Potuznik has stated that the Union would not interfere unless its gas supplies from Russia were affected by the dispute over how much the Ukraine should pay for its gas.

Russian officials have declared that the quarrel with the Ukraine, which is the transit route for one fifth of EU's gas, would not affect its deliveries to the Union.
