Bulgarian School Fight Victim's Family Gets BGN 120,000 Compensation

Crime | December 23, 2008, Tuesday // 00:00

The District Court in Bulgaria's town of Razgrad gave Tuesday BGN 120,000 compensation to the family of the 14-year-old boy, who was killed by a classmate of his in a fight in a school yard a year ago.

The relatives have initially demanded BGN 200,000 blood money from the family of the boy, who caused Halil Hasanov's death.

The schoolboy died of brain concussion after being involved in a fight against his coeval Hyusein Nasufov.

The concussion was a result of the strong blows delivered at the victim. The hit caused a brain swelling that blocked the vital systems of the boy.

Reports claim that Hyusein attacked Halil as he told their class teacher the culprit had stolen some things from a shop in the town.

Shortly after the incident, Hyusein was sentenced to three years served in probation for killing a person by imprudence.
