Bulgaria's Parliament should make some amendments in the laws related to the country's missions abroad, President Georgi Parvanov said Monday.

The statement was made at the official ceremony held on the occasion of the withdrawal of Bulgaria's troops from Iraq in front of the Unknown Soldier monument in downtown Sofia.

"The mission of the contingent in Iraq was very successful but there have been made some mistakes," the president explained.

"The technical equipment was not good enough, it was hard to provide transport vehicles and armoured vests," he added.

Bulgaria's military mission in Iraq was completed as the last units landed at the Sofia International Airport Wednesday afternoon.

Bulgaria has been part of the US-led Coalition forces for the stabilization and recovery of Iraq since May 2003, stepping in immediately after the invasion of Iraq was declared over on May 1, 2003.
