Commenting article: Bulgarian Parliament Confirms Decision to Scrap Belene N-Plant

Bulgaria's Parliament confirmed Wednesday the country's decision to abandon the Belene nuclear power plant project.

The vote was prompted by a recent referendum on the construction of a new nuclear power plant in the country.

Under the law, the recent referendum results imposed for the Belene NPP to be put back on the Parliament's agenda, as voter turnout slightly exceeded 20%. 61% of the voters said "yes" to the construction of a new nuclear power plant; 39% cast a "no" ballot.

“The right-wing Blue Coalition and the ruling center-right GERB have opposed plans for the construction of Bulgaria's second nuclear power plant”
Nuclear is the cheapest and cleanest way to produce electricity! You should also diversify with wind and solar but they have their major drawbacks! Nothing is perfect!
I said it before and I’ll say it again. “Beggars can’t be choosers!”
You see my fellow Bulgarian politicians, the moment you realize that Bulgaria is nothing more than a “beggar” today (at least that what you turned the country into) the better the economy and life will be.
Let me clarify:
EVERY opportunity should be utilized! By “scrapping” the NPP you destroyed thousands of jobs, cheaper electricity, a step towards a better and more technologically advanced economy, energy independence, technological developments and etc. etc. etc.
You can’t be picky and fussy dumbos! Who do you think you are…. Do you realize that Bulgaria is an uncompetitive micro economy heavily dependent on foreign investments…. Bulgaria is already the poorest country in the EU! What are you trying to do…..
Stop destroying your only opportunities or else you are on your way to disaster!
You messed up the country and the economy so badly that now no political party will be able to recover it for a very long time!
