Commenting article: Psychologist: Economic Crisis Caused Bulgarian Hostage Drama

The hostage drama in the city of Sliven is unprecedented for Bulgaria, psychology expert, Hristo Monov, told the TV channel bTV Thursday morning.

Monov, however, points out the incident does not come as a surprise, citing former Interior Minister, Mihail Mikov, warning as early as 2009 about the increase of such crimes over the economic crisis.

The psychologist explained the most likely reason for the bank robbery is a money problem such as having a large loan, which cannot be paid off, rather than someone unstable, seeking attention.

The article says: "The psychologist pointed out the victims will experience serious post-traumatic stress disorder, and advises them to go home to their close-ones, and enjoy their support, instead of talking to authorities."

Sounds like Bulgaria doesn't have any Crisis Psychology Unit. Maybe not even any psychologists?

It must be noted, that meeting with the other hostages in order to talk about the event, feelings etc. would be a good experience for the victims. The best would be an organised debriefing facilitated by properly trained psychologists.

The bible teaches us "an eye for an eye". I say give the hostages guns and let them do to him what he did to them.

I think people should just have guns, then this would've never happened in the first place and we wouldn't need any psycho-the-rapists. How can you not agree with that?

God wants people to love each other and guns are the only way.

Mihail, you wrote: "God wants people to love each other and guns are the only way."

A very interesting statement seen from a psychological point of view.

You see, in Danish, the word for "gun" also means "gay".

On this background, I'll kindly ask, if you are gay?

That might explain your slightly compulsive behaviour.

That's just plain ignorant and petty.

"That might explain your slightly compulsive behaviour."
Looks like this is some of that cave-man logic you mentioned before.

What does being gay have to do with this? Why would you make that particular connection? Get a life you homophobe!

By the way, if you haven't picked up on this, I don't actually think what I said in the first comment.

Mihail,

I know.

You just missed me and got what you wanted.

Me homophobe?

Nah, I gladly exploit any subject who weighs more than 45 kg and is able to move by its own force.

I'm sorry, but that's exactly what a pedophile would say. No offense.

Sorry, I wasn't aware of that. Not my field of expertise.

Nah, I stick to grown up Bulgarian females, as long as they don't suffer from FMD.

"The bible teaches us "an eye for an eye". "

Close, but NO cigar! The Bible teaches "turn the other cheek". When someone slaps you, you don't fight back, to let him slap your other cheek. Clearly you have never read the bible and you are ignorant and clueless.

That cheek stuff is in the New Testament. Sorry to burst your bubble, but some people don't get their guidance from that.
This proves without doubt that you are the one who's ignorant. And you might have offended me religiously.

Anyone in the 3 big religions can relate to "eye for an eye", and so for universality we must accept that.

I guess by your standards I should now let you call me ignorant again.

They do if they are Orthodox Christians like Bulgarians are. What are you? Jewish? Jews roll with the Old Testament and the ancient "prophets". Or perhaps you are a Muslim? A totally devious, violent and offensive cult. I don't mind offending you. You are welcome.

"I guess by your standards I should now let you call me ignorant again."

The other way around. You called me ignorant, so go ahead and call me ignorant again. However, I am not exactly a Christian. I believe in God, but not in religion.

No, actually I believe in Greek mythology and pray to Joe Pesci.
Are you one of those flying spaghetti monster people?

(You dropped the "ignorant" first).
Whatever you think, be civilized, have some more respect for other people.

"I believe in God, but not in religion".
Be, realistic. Religion is real (I've seen it with my own eyes), but god is not (what proof do you have?).

Religion comes between me and my God. I don't need a middleman between me and my God. The proof that God is real is in existence. Time, space, energy, matter--what more real proof do you want? My God is whatever drives the universe. And my religion is science because it has looked under the hood of the universe. Science has come closer to understanding life and the universe than any other religion.
