EU citizens are up in arms over confusion regarding their Bulgarian identity documents that have caused problems with residency and every day life.
After a Novinite.com investigation into the problems encountered with the Bulgarian certificate for long-term residence it has become clear that Bulgarian authorities are utterly confused over when and how EU citizens can use their identity cards and when they are allowed to apply for permanent residence.
EU citizens who contacted Novinite.com described the situation as "like apartheid" and urged the new center-right GERB government to take urgent action. They also described how they had been laughed at by Bulgarian banks, local government officials and police when they produced their "child-like" long-term residence certificates....
A tempest in a tea cut if I ever saw one. Or to put it another way, making a mountain out of a mole hill. Or to put it a third way, if anyone is dumb enough to want to live in Bulgaria long term, they deserve all that's coming to them. This is Bulgaria, the squat toilet of the EU. You want papers to stay there? Get serious!
There a lot f EU Citizens that they live in Bulgaria long term, without to be "dumbs". Bulgaria is now an EU country and after all, lots of foreighn companies are established here so is normal Eu citizens to be in the country as long term residents. I agree that the "card" we used to have before 2007 was ideal, the new one is "just a piece of paper". It may be not called as an identity document in any case.

Why would anyone live in Bulgaria or have a business there is beyond me. Just the fact that you are working in Bulgaria because that's the best job you could get makes you dumb. If you were smart, why aren't you working in London or in Paris? Why are you working in Bulgaria? And I might also add that IF you are smart, then you are the only smart person working and living in Bulgaria voluntarily.
Non-Eu citizens from western countries should still get a nice shiny lychna-karta type card and even better... its so sexy that you can even use it as a credit card ;) And from what I hear if you meet all the requirements as a "permanent resident" its not hard to get and no need to make special payments.
"If you were smart, why aren't you working in London or in Paris?"
There might be 1 million different reasons for this. An intelligent person will find out these reasons by him/herself. Living in Paris, London etc. is not a value in itself. Life is maybe easier for some people in these places but also less challenging and at times also more boring. And I have seen very talented Bulgarians in these places selling junk food at McDonald's or delivering parcels for FedEx. I don't say they are dumb, because they had their personal reason to choose this way, but it's a waste of human talents.
"This is Bulgaria, the squat toilet of the EU." - Why are you insulting Bulgaria?
"Just the fact that you are working in Bulgaria because that's the best job you could get makes you dumb"
Why are you insulting people working in Bulgaria?
Because you are arrogant? Or maybe because YOU are dumb???
"Why would anyone live in Bulgaria or have a business there is beyond me."
Ah yes, I see you are not very bright...narrow-mindedness combined with an inferiority complex
If you can't work out for yourself why any person of average intelligence would not be living or working in Bulgaria makes you dumb. Let me give you a hint. It has nothing to do with my inferiority complex, it has to do with your low IQ.
Here is a list of reasons:
1. Low salaries compared to the rest of Europe and the US.
2. Low standard of life. That means the low quality of housing, food, shopping, cultural institutions, parks, sports venues, schools.
3. Bulgarian people. They are rude, crude, deceitful, lying, stealing, arrogant, pushy, ignorant, smelly, ugly, drunk, slovenly, slutty.
4. Bureaucracy and red tape.
5. Organized crime and corruption.
6. Bulgarian language. I wouldn't want to have to learn it and you can't really live in a country where you don't understand the natives.
7. Inferior public transportation.
Do you really not see my point?
ROFL....Oooohhh...my sides ar hurting....HAHAHAHAHA
Work here????.....Shhh...don't mention that word in Bulgaria.....it's unknown.....and they used to be awarded the Star of Lenin in the Communist days if they were seen doing it
In the words of the song:-
