Whenever anyone says, "I am not being disparaging here" it means that yes, they are being disparaging, but they're trying to be nice about it. Arrogance!

After your "disparaging" remark, you gave an answer that was trite and beneath your intelligence. Either you truly are arrogant and don't feel like wasting your time giving someone like me a "real" reply, or you really haven't thought about it.

The USA doesn't have "professional killers" in its forces. We have people who are trained to operate a 60+ year old war machine (with digital displays and laser guidance now) designed to fight an expensive and inefficient war that leaves a swath of devastation (and rebuilds it better than before, of course) without actually touching the source of our consternation. It's not the 1940's and you can't "win" wars like the one we're fighting today. We have a conceptual or virtual enemy, not a national or physical enemy.

If we had professional killers, then we would be out there assassinating evil dictators and anyone else who annoys us. I didn't say you could avoid bloodshed altogether, but I sure do think it could be a bit more targeted and that we ought to consider electronic annihilation to be more effective against the enemy "terror."

For the record, I truly respect and thank the patriots who dedicate their lives to serving my country. There may be some who "just want to shoot at something" as you alluded to before, but that's not the majority. I simply feel the need for a shift from arms to intelligence.

Hi viking-
Sorry for the delay.
Yes, the current military has some nerds, but they're using the nerds to enhance the accuracy of the old-fashioned weapons! They aren't fighting a modern war; they're fighting the same old war with new bells and whistles.

They need a complete restructure to work with technology to cripple the intelligence of the bad guys.

Hi mo,
Just my two cents here, but your dorky friends at work are exactly the ones I'd like to see fighting the enemies. If Osama bin Laden really is plotting to destroy our country from a cave in Afghanistan, then we need your friends to completely shut down al-qaeda.net.

We need to stop them by cutting off their access to technology. We can't achieve this with the forces and weapons we've amassed over the past six decades, so we're still fighting the traditional war, picking off "al qaeda leaders" one by one.

January 1 or not, it doesn't matter. Airlines typically don't have to compensate passengers delayed because of weather.

I'm sorry, I couldn't resist. It must stop, but it will not stop until either DA or Bill is driven away. If it's DA, then Bill simply will continue with another.

I'm out. Have a wonderful day, all of you.

Bill,
This "TomJones" character, in addition to being a worldwide superstar and legend, has demonstrated some pretty good insight. I myself have tried to reach out to you and gently suggest that you keep your game on the level, but you refuse! In the beginning I thought you were a man of character who had just gotten caught up in internet anonymity. Many people do. Of late, as much as it troubles me to say this, I have decided that you need to go. It is impossible, even for me, to feel compassion for you.

Just thinking of Tom Jones reminds me of another song...

There was time when your hand
reached for mine
And a moment apart would mean
breaking your heart
Now you're out of my arms
And we're strangers again
Is it this easy then, for a real love to end
Oh, please...turn your back...
walk away from me
I didn't dream you'd cry
I'm standing here as I've set you free
And all I can say is goodbye
I've tried everything but we must go away
If we talk anymore...we may never be sure
So don't look in my eyes
For you'll see that it shows
I still love you, you know,
But I must let you go
Oh, please...turn your back
Walk away from me
I didn't dream you'd cry
I'm standing here as I've set you free
And all I can say is goodbye
Ohhh, please... turn your back...
Walk away from me
I didn't dream you'd cry
I'm standing here as I've set you free
And all I can say is goodbye..........

Well she's all you'd ever want,
She's the kind they'd like to flaunt and take to dinner.
Well she always knows her place.
She's got style, she's got grace, She's a winner.
She's a Lady. Whoa whoa whoa, She's a Lady.
Talkin' about that little lady, and the lady is mine.
Well she's never in the way
Something always nice to say, Oh what a blessing.
I can leave her on her own
Knowing she's okay alone, and there's no messing.
She's a lady. Whoa, whoa, whoa. She's a lady.
Talkin' about that little lady, and the lady is mine.
Well she never asks for very much and I don't refuse her.
Always treat her with respect, I never would abuse her.
What she's got is hard to find, and I don't want to lose her
Help me build a mansion from my little pile of clay. Hey, hey, hey.
Well she knows what I'm about,
She can take what I dish out, and that's not easy,
Well she knows me through and through,
She knows just what to do, and how to please me.
She's a lady. Whoa, whoa, whoa. She's a lady.
Talkin' about that little lady and the lady is mine.
Yeah yeah yeah She's a Lady
Listen to me baby, She's a Lady
Whoa whoa whoa, She's a Lady
And the Lady is mine
Yeah yeah yeah She's a Lady
Talkin about this little lady
Whoa whoa whoa whoa
Whoa and the lady is mine
Yeah yeah She's a Lady
And the Lady is mine.
