Great! Now everyone in the world with 500,000 EUro in their pocket can become an EU citizen. What a joke! Bulgaria is a disgrace, with no self-respect for itself. Already we are full of religious cults (mormons, witness, harikrishna's , etc), now we will be full of fake investors.

John,,,,it has nothing to do with dictatorship. People want fresh air! People will adapt to new realities and adjust. Same arguments about business loss were made in each and every country where such bans came into place. And guess what! THat argument never worked. People put their health before profit. And to be honest, people will continue to eat and drink out, smoke or no smoke. So lets clear up the smoke on this issue. The ban stays, it is what people want, and democracy lives on :))))

Bulgaria has no traditions of their own? And have to even import Christmas market idea from abroad? Absolutely absurd. As much as we love Germany (they are hard working good people which are example for Bulgarians to follow), we should be finding traditions with ourselves.

Dear Gwinn, be serious, smoking is not a fundamental "human right". Your not born a smoker, and it is a condition of choice, not birth. So there is no population permanently designated "smoker" or "non smoker" BG is a dictatorship, that is true. But some time dictatorship can be benevolent :) We are only doing in BG what the rest of the world is doing, cleaning the AIR! You seem not to care about the health of your fellow citizens, you think greedily of supporting your habit inhale smoke for yourself, and blow the same cancer smoke at your neighbors.

What kind of sick society locks people up for 2 years for throwing a simple tomato. No room at all for the public to express their dismay with the corruption in this country. Why must every protest register for a permit, and for this permit pay money. This is a mafia country of no parallel anywhere in Europe. People are starting to organize, and pressure of protests is the only way to keep government honest. Not to mention a few klips from show Gocpordary Efira :)

Dear Peter, these smoking / no smoking section does not work at all. As you suspect, you can be guaranteed that the whole place would be smoking, as Bulgarians don't follow signs or laws. There is nothing you can do when people smoke in the smoking section. The Bulgarian militia does not even come when you report serious incidents like fights, i doubt they will come for a smoking signal. Or if they do come, they come after a few hours. And of course the Militia officers themselves probably would come with a cigarette in their hand when responding. :)

Oh come on! Bulgaria is just late in implementing laws instituted almost very where else in Europe and America. Of course people should not smoke in indoor places. If there is still some civilization left in Bulgaria, it will follow through on the right thing to do. Doing the right thing puts people before business. If mafia country like Russia can close all the casino's, why can Bulgaria, and EU county, not do things like ban smoking, close disco's in student city, and protect the forests? It's time for Bulgarians to realize that the days of living in a land of no laws is over. Civilization has arrived.

the voters are always smart. Americans realized that the Republican candidate was from the Mormon cult, and even though the media don't report it, we all know that people won't vote for cultists. Same for Stanishev, everyone knows he is a communist at heart, and the voters will not bring him back anytime soon. Voters are smart, and not so swayed as the media sometimes thinks.
