I wonder about how democratic is that - to have a debate only between the ruling commie party and an opposition party without much experience that was hand-picked by the commies as an opponent?

It would be better to hear other voices too, and especially it would be better to hear some more precise plans about who is going to do what if elected.

Right now it looks like in the old good times - the commies do whatever they want giving time to whoever they want on the state television and one can wonder how independent are the state media in BG and how objective are they.

Actually Sofia looks pretty awful these days, this is a fact.
But if so many Plodviv businessmen come to build hotels, casinos etc in Sofia and in all kinds of resorts instead of Plovdiv, leaving the glory of their city to be defended by Plovdiv expats who write in English so that we can understand them what can we do?

I dont want to think what the traffic will be during this meeting so Plovdiv can have both Clinton and Putin if you ask me. Maybe after all it looks better than Sofia although it had quite a lot remarkably ugly quarters 10 years ago.

Like in nature where the cucarachas outlived the dinosaurs, it looks like mediocre states like ours outlived these dinosaur empires not because they have some extraordinary merits but because they can live with very little in their microscopic world and dont really care about what happens on the higher length scale.

If the EU wants to survive they should refuse in one voice - never ever in history an empire, a country or an union that colonized or was allied with Bulgaria survived.

The Bizantine Empire colonized Bulgaria and now its gone. The Ottoman Empire colonized Bulgaria and now its gone. The Germans allied with Bulgaria and lost 2 world wars. The Soviet Union colonized Bulgaria and now its gone.

btw there is similar islamic center in Paris with a school, a mosque etc. But the situation in BG is such that the BG turks better drop the project for the time being.

The Banja Bashi mosque on the picture is a beautiful mosque and very valuable historic monument for Sofia.

The turks try to build another mosque in Sofia during the last 15 years or so and it never worked and wont work any time soon but I guess they will keep trying.

Why not? This is one more "brilliant" idea coming from Bulgarians - we are all "geniuses" here.

If the government geniuses could propose to hire foreigners who dont speak Bulgarian to run BG institutions where most senior people dont speak any other language, why not a country with zero finished highways organize a F1 race?

A colleague of mine is the greatest BG genius of the week - she wants to build a VIP cemetery on 50 decares family land close to the Black sea in the burgas region. A cemetery with sea view - now, thats something special for the VIP dead.

The only problem is that 90% of the ideas coming from businessmen, politicians, MPs etc are totally stupid and irrational and dont solve anything.

Here is another sudanese camel "flagman" - one can play a bit and put the Macedonian or the Albanian flag on the stick and make the news in Scopie or in Tirana.

Here at least there are documents seized and people who were charged. And of course when it is about a corruption scheme in BG everybody would find this news quite credible although much less exotic than the BG Saudis hiding in the Rodhopy mountains.

If there is evidence why nobody reports it in more details or says there is a credible intelligence report that confirms it?

Absolutely everything that went out so far as evidence is total BS - BG reporters went on the spot and saw girls wearing jeans and no scarfs and older women wearing "shalvari" but all say they dress as they wish. There is a local pub in every village. The "Saudi Arabia" guy Murat says he doesnt speak any other language than Bulgarian and never set a foot in Saudi Arabia.

all we have so far are words of BG politicians claiming something and words of local people who seem surprised by such claims because they didnt see anything of the allegations happening where they live.
