Photo Story: Sofia Thrills in Red-Blue Clash

Photos by Kameliya Atanasova Text by Ivelina Puhaleva Emotions are traditionally high, as the never-ending fight between the Reds and the Blues comes on the agenda. Bulgaria's best football clubs Levski and CSKA met on the neutral playground of the National Stadium "Vassil Levski" at the fifth round of the national League A on Sunday. The first half of the match produced the only positive thrills for both players and fans, as Levski and CSKA scored once each others' net. Velizar Dimitrov from CSKA was the first to open the result in the 31st minute. Just six minutes later Dimitar Telkiiski headed into the net of CSKA. Problems erupted in the halftime when fans of the blue screaming and insulting the referee Momchil Vraykov toppled over a fence. In a bid to restore protection fences police was attacked with stones and bottles. Three fans and half a dozen policemen were lightly injured. Two of them will stay the night in hospital, doctors said adding there was no risk for their life. Football hooliganism has not been a plague in Bulgaria so far, but when it does show its ugly face, public opinion should say its word. Click on the pictures below to track down the key-turn match.
