Meglena Kuneva

45.4 % of votes

Kuneva's third place in the 2011 Bulgarian presidential race has been regarded as an impressive performance given her run as an independent, without any backing from political parties.

Rosen Plevneliev

31.21 % of votes

2011 saw Plevneliev's rise from the status of most popular minister in the Borisov Cabinet to a landslide election win, becoming the 4th democratically elected President of Bulgaria.

Sergey Stanishev

8.51 % of votes

Although the Bulgarian Socialist Party keeps struggling in opposition formation, its leader Stanishev remains firmly in charge, ending the year with his election as President of the Party of European Socialists.

The Bulgarian branch of Italy's UniCredit Bulbank has enjoyed steady results over 2011 under the leadership of one of the most widely recognized Bulgarian bankers Levon Hampartzoumian.

Iravan Hira - General Manager, HP Bulgaria

6.66 % of votes

Much of the growing momentum of HP Bulgaria in 2011 has been attributed to its highly active General Manager Iravan Hira, who took over only last year.

Emiliyan Abadzhiev - General Manager, Metro Cash & Carry Bulgaria

4.51 % of votes

Abadzhiev's leadership has been viewed as key in managing to recover the performance of Metro Cash and Carry, perhaps the top wholesale chains on the Bulgarian market, throughout 2011.

Former Czech Ambassador to Bulgaria Petr Dokladal has been making a headway in Sofia once again, this time in his capacity as head of the CEZ power utility.

The energetic CEO of AES Bulgaria Peter Lithgow has been instrumental in carrying out the major energy investment in Bulgaria in the past 20 years - the AES Galabovo thermal power plant.
