Bulgaria has always urged for controlled actions in the Mideast conflict, therefore the country condemns the killing of Hamas leader Sheikh Yassin, founder and spiritual leader of the military movement.
That was written in a statement circulated to the media by Bulgaria's Foreign Ministry. It also reads that Yassin's killing might trigger a wave of violence that could break the fragile peace in the region.
The Balkan country urged for reasonable actions of the two sides in the conflict.
In a massive gun ship attack by helicopters Israeli army killed Shaikh Ahmad Yasin, prominent Hamas leader.
Right after the killing the US appealed for calm and restraint, saying it had no prior warning of the attack and was not involved in it. UK Foreign Secretary Jack Straw said the killing was "unjustified" and "very unlikely to achieve its objective".
France also joined in the condemnation, and European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana said it was "very, very bad news" for the peace process.
