Israel Faces Open Jihad War
2004-03-22 00:00:00
Following the killing of Hamas leader Sheikh Yassin, founder and spiritual leader of the military movement, the Islamic Jihad (Holy War) said that it would open the door to a new war.

Hamas spokesperson blamed Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon that the assassination of Yassin was in the core his plans to target Palestinian militant factions.

Israeli Apache helicopters fired three missiles at Yassin before dawn on Monday as he was leaving a mosque near his house in Gaza City.

The Israeli army has already sealed off the West Bank and Gaza into Israel, so no Palestinians will be able to cross over into Israel.

At least nine people died in the attack including two of Yasin's bodyguards, and 10 more were wounded.
