Pro-Govt Protesters in Bulgaria to Lay Flowers to Honor Injured in Protests

Pro-government protesters plan to lay flowers to honor the injured in Tuesday's protests at the Orlov Most junction in Sofia and the Parliament building.

The event is scheduled for 6-6.30 pm on Wednesday.

One of the organizers threatened socialist leader Sergey Stanishev, accusing the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) of an encroachment of power.

"We do not want them. We want an absolutely new Bulgaria. Let them go. We shall continue protesting. We shall lay flowers where blood was shed" pro-government protesters said.

Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov made the shocking announcement Wednesday that his cabinet would resign collectively  around noon.

The move follows a series of mass protest rallies against high electricity prices that morphed into wider discontent over austerity and the way the country is being run.

Borissov told MPs that his party would not be part of a caretaker government.

Bulgaria's Parliament is to vote on the Cabinet's resignation on Thursday.

The country's parliamentary elections are due on July 7.
