It was not all about arms, of course...

Ukraine celebrated its 23rd Independence Day on August 24, with a military parade in its capital Kiev held to mark the anniversary.

Although the event divided opinions among Ukrainians (or those considering themselves Ukrainians) themselves, it did not seem to provoke huge outrage among the ranks of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic representatives.

To the contrary, what they seem to have made is a rival march: a parade of their own.
