Commenting article: PM Borisov: Buddha File Means Bulgarian Mafia on Last Feet!

The Buddha file, according to which Bulgaria's anti-mafia unit tried to recruit Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov as an organized crime informant in the late 1990s, is a plot meaning that the Bulgarian mafia is on its last feet, Borisov himself declared in Brussels.

Borisov spoke in the EU capital Thursday as he arrived there for the summit of the European Council on the EU budget.

The Bulgarian Prime Minister, who has been rumored for a long time to have had a "dark past", stated that the file of the Bulgarian anti-mafia unit GDBOP (then called CSBOP) codenamed "Buddha" was part of a "purposeful campaign" against him, and signified the fact that "the mafia, organized crime, and their political protectors are standing on their last feet".

Don Buddha Corleone Borisov should come up with other statements if he wants to save his position. Many Bulgarians think that he means that "My competitors in the Mafia are on their last feet"

The Bulgarian citizens should realize that this man risks to drag the country into the heart of darkness.

"The Bulgarian citizens should realize that this man risks to drag the country into the heart of darkness."

Nobody is claiming BB is whiter than snow Philippe - but the alternative is those bunch of Commie and Turkish crooks, so by default you are claiming they offer a viable and preferred alternative! For shame.

Chushki, don't waste your time on Philippe. He is a Briton, who moved to BG and thinks to be doing us a favor by living in such a corrupt country. The guy further finds himself so important and we the Bulgarians so lower class, that it results pointless to learn anything about such a third world country. Finally Mr Philippe has no clue about the political situation in BG and reading from his posts he might be even thinking to have settled in an air bubble on Mars.

Chuski, you don't think that Borisov is a Commie/Crook? He is at least one of those. It is far too evident for many decades now. Great wealth amassed, jobs for the boys, shady deals, girlfriend owns a bank amongst other business and is the richest woman in Bulgaria; the list goes on and on. And I think that Phillipe has a valid point about Borisov bringing Bulgaria to the heart of darkness. He already has. I believe BB is more of a coward than a hero. Look how quickly he jumped ship of his beloved Bulgaria. He is clever and sly and I believe he is running scared. There is enough mud sticking to him to keep elephants happy. Watch this space................

Tania, Boyko may not be whiter than white but he is certainly a far better choice than the Commie-Turk-Witch coalition waiting in the wings, whose fraudulent activities, stealing of public money, inability to invest in roads and infrastructure and sheer incompetence is well documented from their time in office.

Yeah I get that too. The principle of the Gerb party sounds good in theory but why do we have to choose between the lesser of the evils at all. That short changes the real Bulgarian people as in the middle and lower economic demographic. The nouveau riche corporate world in Bulgaria was built on deceit and corruption and it is so incestuous and wrong and anyone in any position of power is inextricably linked. The cancer runs deep. New blood and talent is desperately needed. I am not preaching but just saying...........
