Commenting article: World Marks Holocaust Remembrance Day

Today, January 27, people across the globe mark the International Holocaust Remembrance Day and the 68th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi concentration camp, by Soviet troops in 1945.

The day, held in annual commemoration to honor the victims of the Nazi regime, was designated by the United Nations General Assembly Resolution 60/7 on 1 November 2005 during the 42nd plenary session.

While January 27 is recognized by many countries as a day of remembrance for the Holocaust victims, other dates are used across the world to honor them, including Israel, which holds commemorating ceremonies in April.

Yes. But for Russians it is first of all Remembrance Day of The
Breakthrough of the siege of Leningrad (January,27,1944)........
900 days. 1million+ deaths from cold, diseases, bombs and-the main-The Famine.

A little girl, Tanya Savicheva, was fixing in the diary the deaths of her
relatives. Her last record: "Everyone died. Tanya is left only". But she
wasn't. She died also.

Eternal greatful MEMORY. To hell all the wars.
