Lovely painting, if the Duchess is truly happy then who are the critics anyway. It seems to me that critics in any area waffle on and use many little used words just to prove how clever they are but, in many cases, what they thing and say is shot down by the public's reaction which is often totally opposite to that of the critics. Trouble with critics is the same as that with academics, they get so wrapped up in their own world the fail to see the big picture, they can't see the wood for the trees and loose a grip on the real world.

Trouble with critics is the same as that with academics, they get so wrapped up in their own world the fail to see the big picture, they can't see the wood (forest/woods) for the trees and loose (lose) a grip on the real world.
