Berbatov Names 2nd Daughter after Wife
Did his Wife have no say in this decision? this article is so sexist that it is unbelievable in a modern society.

Get a life, Peter!
That pig Berbatov is so sexist that he apparently even insisted on being the father, rather than letting his wife have a turn in that role. ;)
I think the line "the couple has obviously decided otherwise" probably tells us all we need to know.....

I was not suggesting Berbatov was sexist (although maybe he is, I wouldn't know) but that the style of JOURNALISM was sexist.

As in "isn't that a bit of a petty remark"? ;) The rest of the article seems to indicate that he is happy to share these decisions with his wife - and his general reputation here would certainly bear that out.....

Sorry, I still see nothing particularly "sexist" in the article. Just which bit(s) get(s) your goat?

The fact you don't see it perhaps is a reflection on how far behind the rest of the 21st century world Bulgaria is. Did not Berbatov AND HIS WIFE not decide on the baby's name?? Yet mention of the wife (actually on referred to as part of "the couple") does not come in until halfway through the article. This may be just a little point to some but does indicate that Bulgaria has far to go before it becomes an equal society.

And it also indicates that these petty PC quibbles blind some people to the fact that Bulgaria is actually a lot more "equal" a society than a good few others which like to kid themselves they are more advanced. Women here are not discriminated against, except on the perfectly acceptable criterion of ability - which applies to everyone. Indeed women here were "given" the right to vote some time before they were in the UK, for example.
Like in most other countries, you may find some inequalities within households, due to misguided "macho males" but to draw the conclusions that you appear to from this article is simply spurious and well below your usual level of reasoning that we enjoy reading here.....

OK Geeky, in this instance we will agree to differ, I read the article one way, you another, both of us are entitled to our opinions, that's what democracy is all about. at least we live in a society that enables us to talk freely.
