Italian PM Berlusconi: My Sympathy for Bulgaria Turned into Love
"Berlusconi, ..., spoke about his strong sympathy towards Bulgaria, which later turned into love. He told how while watching footage from the Yalta conference he saw Bulgaria and Romania remaining under Soviet rule and felt deeply saddened for the country's harsh destiny, often misunderstood by Europe, something that become the reason for the Italian PM's unwavering support for Bulgaria."

What a shameless liar! 'Unwavering support', hahahaha, what a joke! We still remember what he said about Bulgarians and Romanians not long ago, and also how 'supportive' he was in EU accession of these countries.

And I thought his 'love' is limited to girls under the age of 15 only...

Berlusconi has to curb his enthusiasm. He is so energetic and enthusiastic when he starts to bullshit people that he starts to believe his own lies. That man will say whatever he thinks people want to hear. the truth is not his strong point. What a douche! He needs to take down the bullshit a notch or two.

"Romania's love for Italy has turned to much hate."

I doubt that 'Romania' can love or hate anybody or anything like 'Italy'. This is a feeling reserved for human beings, not for abstract things.

For sure you are angered by the clown Berlusconi's and other Italian politicians statements about Romania and Romanians. Not nice indeed and really outrageous. But we all know who Berlusconi and his gang are. Don't fall into the trap to identify them with 'Italy'.

Hate is an unhealthy feeling ! It sickens the one that hates.

I love Italy , the land that gave us : Dante, Boccaccio, Machiavelli , Malatesta, Michelangelo, Leonardo, Verdi, Puccini, Galileo, Volta , Galvani , Avogadro, Torricelli, Marconi, Sophia Loren , Claudia Cardinale , Ornella Muti, Ana Magnani, Virna Lisi and ...Alberto Tomba.

I DO NOT hate Italy that also gave us: the Fascism , Mussolini, the Mafia and the war in Ethiopia.

Don't hate. Try to understand.

Regards
Honterus

R4...

Italy also gave us Paolo Maldini and a whole raft of excellent athletes.

I lived in Italy for three years, and found it a delightful country, full of very nice, friendly and helpful people. The climate's pleasant and the food great.

What more do you want out of a country? Honest politicians? No country has that.

The only issue I have with Italy is that is seems incompetent and ineffectual trying to keep the African vermin from entering its borders. Too many African boat people.

They cannot afford a business class flight ticket paid by the Bulgarian Secret Service in communist times like your parents to reach their destination.

Then they should stay TF away from Europe. Europe is overpopulated as it is. Deadbeat Africans are not wanted except for organ harvesting.

May I also add Umberto Eco? I only have two of his books, "The Name of the Rose" and "The Foucault Pendulum", but he's a great story teller.

Also, if I'm not mistaken--and I well could be--only Poland has an older university, and that may be only the oldest north of the Alps.

And, of couorse, Marco Polo.

Venice rulled the Adriatic for a very long time, but I'm not historian enough to tell you when.

Italy has always had chaotic politics, but that's the name of the game there. Nero wasn't very great, either.

Bill,

"Also, if I'm not mistaken--and I well could be--only Poland has an older university, and that may be only the oldest north of the Alps."

Can you please enlighten us here? Which Polish university would that be? According to my knowledge Bologna is the oldest (European) university (Al-Azhar is of course the oldest still existing university in the world).

What is the most important conclusion from the Sofia Mayor elections on November 15, 2009?
That the ruling party GERB of PM Borisov continues to be hugely popular, whereas the Socialists are pretty much out.

That the decline of the Socialist Party has stopped whereas the ruling party GERB has failed to attract the expected very high number of voters.

That the Sofia residents are either completely disillusioned with politics, or care little about who is Mayor.

That the record-high jackpot of the Bulgarian State Lottery "Toto" generated much greater interest than the Mayor elections.
