"In less than two months anybody from Bulgaria or Romania who wishes to come to the UK may do so.
Many people here are talking about this but unlike most of them I have visited shanty towns in both countries and know what they are like."
Thus spoke UKIP leader, MEP Nigel Farage, as Daily -Express anti-immigration initiative gained momentum this week....
I think you are missing a point here, I was not talking about people in the UK in my previous comment. From my personal experience having lived in the UK for a consistent period of time I believe many people there have the same opinions as Farage and that's OK, but since GB is part of the EU they cannot have different rules designed specifically for them. So GB doesn't want to open the market to BG and RO workers? fine, just get out of the EU. Nobody will cry in Europe, is fine. All this hysteria about people floating in the UK is completely unjustified IMO and has to stop. UK can't have the privileges of being part of EU and having such protective attitude against other nationals in the domestic labour market. Anyway my point was: can you judge 20-plus years of post-Communism regime in BG or Romania basing your theory on Nigel Farage coming to BG and visiting a roma ghetto? I think is ridicolous.
Juanito, for the past few decades, if Brits complained about anyone of colour coming to the UK, they were vilified as racists and more recently people who have voiced such feelings in public have been arrested and even imprisoned. The UK is full to bursting, but they are not allowed to complain about those coming in hordes from Asia and Africa - and the thought that even more will be coming from January 2014 from the EU is freaking them out. Unemployment among the young in the UK is extremely high and will get worse as more people come prepared to work on low wages for a few years before going back home. British people cannot afford to accept such low wages if they must remain there and build up a family. It is the fault of big businesses wanting cheap labour for more profits and of the UK government for not looking after the British people
So the author here is making an analysis of the socio-political evolution of Bulgaria and Romania on the bases of the comments of a guy that just cares about UK not getting more migrants (Indians and Paki are OK, but people from Eastern EU are not, also very hilarious) and getting out of the EU and has been in Bulgaria, what, 3 days? Way to go.
Mr. Zhekov, you are confusing 2 issues here. What Farange is banging on about, has nothing to do with Bulgaria and Romania, in regards to having never recovered from and in having been seriously damaged for decades and generations by the Commie Regimes.
There are enough bludgers, criminals, oligarchs and mafia in UK from all walks of life, and from all religious and political persuasions, and from every country in Europe and beyond; that their small country cannot cope with anymore migrants; legals or illegals. That is their problem: not the xenophobia of BG and Romanian migrants specifically. The UK has made a mess of their country in creating the welfare dependant society that they have, and it is not a healthy place to be. Some UK citizens would argue that they have lost control of their own sovereignty by the UK joining the EU and they want out.
