Commenting article: Bulgarian Nationalist Party VMRO Renews Protests against Monopolies

Supporters of Bulgarian nationalist party VMRO, holding flags turned upside down, gathered Sunday in front of the Court Palace in Sofia for new protests against political and economic monopolies.

VMRO leader Krasimir Karakachanov, as cited by the Bulgarian National Radio (BNR), made clear that the party was renewing protests because the caretaker government had done nothing to terminate the contracts with power distributors.

Bulgaria's center-right GERB government resigned on February 20 after weeks of mass protests against poverty, corruption, and high electricity and heating bills.

longliner,

a short overview on VMRO history:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internal_Macedonian_Revolutionary_Organization

As you see, VMRO was indeed for most of the time of its existence a terrorist network that is responsible for countless assassinations in Bulgaria, Serbia, Greece and other European countries and that financed its activities by threatening the local population in the areas that were controlled by them and extorting money for them. Very much a role model for other criminal terrorist groups, like the ETA, the Ustasha, or the IRA. Some of them sent even "fighters" to Bulgaria to get training from the VMRO hit men or they used VMRO contract killers to get the job done (for example the assassination of the Greek King and French Foreign Minister).

Typical for Bulgaria that nobody seems to care about that and people seem to consider it as normal that a group with a criminal and terrorist past (?) that never distanced itself from these crimes can run for parliamentary elections!

Welcome to Bulgaria!
