The Bulgarian Parliament expectedly voted in favor of dropping the name of the Belene nuclear power plant project from the upcoming referendum on the fate of the country's nuclear energy.
The government of the ruling center-right GERB party scrapped in March 2012 the project to build a second Nuclear Power Plant in the Danube town of Belene, declaring it economically unfeasible. The pro-Belene oppositional Bulgarian Socialist Party then launched a petition for a referendum on the Russian-Bulgarian project's fate.
The original question of the petition was: "Should nuclear energy be developed in Bulgaria through the building of a Nuclear Plant at the Belene site?"...
Some facts worth mentioning: In 1876 there was no Bulgarian state in existence. Democracy is form of government and therefore can’t be used in the context of nonexistent country state.
The impression one can gets from Sofianets’s post that Bulgaria has been a Republic for ever is erroneous too. Bulgaria was a monarchy from 1978 till September 1946 (not to mention the previous two kingdoms).
Levski was a Bulgarian patriot and revolutionary, but was not the only one. Let Bulgarians speak on that matter, sir, as one saying popular among Bulgarian Sofiantsi goes: Позволете на Френската Полиция да говори Френски [let the French Police speak French.. .:-)]
Of course, it is extraneous to comment, that not the slightest semblance of Democracy has ever existed in the Republic of Bulgaria. Not Ever. Not from 1876. And, so, no one is surprised at the latest legislative atrocity.
There have been no Bulgarian patriot since Vasil Levski. How about you? Like to step up, or would you just be satisfied for being paid off?
Is belene a "new" N-plant? or could it be construed as an existing plan? With all the political wrangling over this project that has taken place over the past couple of weeks with accusations and denials that the project is going ahead I suspect there may be more than meets the eye with the removal of the name "Belene" from the referendum wording. Watch this spot.
Hey Sofianits you obviously are a communist rat. Pathetic garbage in a constant crusade of complaining for everything instead of actually starting to work for a change!
What a cry-babies, bunch of losers. Go to Greece where your rights will be respected and there will be plenty of democracy, or better yet if you want to see the real picture feel free to jump over to Venezuela, or Ecuador.
