The presidential and vice presidential candidates of the opposition left-wing Bulgarian Socialist Party, BSP, are very attractive and it would be very easy to convince the ethnic Turkish electorate to support them.
The statement was made at a late-night press conference by the leader of the ethnic Turkish party Movement for Rights and Freedoms, DPS, Ahmed Dogan, who spoke in the aftermath of the first round of the country's presidential and local elections, after the first exit polls results were released.
Dogan further said that the presidential nomination of the ruling, center-right Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria, GERB, party, Rosen Plevneliev, absolutely does not match the DPS profile for Bulgaria's Head of State. He pointed out the president has no business working on investment projects and should take care of the image of the country before foreign partners. He was referring to Plevneliev's now-former post of Regional Minister in the GERB cabinet where he was ranked for a long time as the most successful member of the government....
