Commenting article: Bulgaria's FinMin Refuses to Give Money for Belene NPP

Bulgaria's Finance Minister Simeon Djankov has announced no state money will be given for the construction of the Belene nuclear plant.

"As long as I am the finance minister, the state will not give money for the Belene NPP or for state guarantees for its construction," Djankov said Sunday in an interview for the Bulgarian private TV channel bTV.

He also said that in 2011, Bulgaria will increase its national debt by less than BGN 2,4 B, which is the maximum growth, envisioned in the 2011 budget draft.

The minister makes it clear that the Bulgarian government has no interest whatsoever to attract a foreign investor.

In this particular case it is a good thing. To build an untested Russian nuclear technology in an earthquake area is sheer madness.

Bulgaria's Finance Minister Simeon Djankov has announced that no state money will be given for the Belene nuclear power plant and there will be no guarantees for its construction.

Well, Mr. Djankov has just let the skeleton out of the cupboard in the Belene NPP case!
So the strategic German investor is waiting to go public with his intention to invest in Belene, fully aware that the Bulgarian State will not, or cannot afford, to guarantee the plant's completion or construction. Moreover, the Bulgarian Government has never intended to go ahead with Belene NPP, but has been speculating in "strategic" investors to finance it and Russia to deliver the technology on credit.

What a genius project ! How can any investor be hesitant to such generous conditions and opportunities to make sound profit?

No German investor will announce any interest this week or the next...or the next thereafter, or... Nor will there be any investors for F1 or the Kremikovtzi scrapyard.
It is true that foreign property investors and EU officials were caught up in sympathy for an emerging new "democracy". Billions of Euros were stolen and lost in corruption and fake projects, while the statistics from the Bulgarian property market were fabricated and fake .

The Fireman got a lot of undeserved political support for his intention to fight corruption and organized crime, but he and his Government have failed to deliver. The corruption is even worse than before and organized crime is vital as ever.

But never before has the international community seen more, absolutely insane. Bulgarian projects announced- F1, New Jerusalem, Kremikovtzi etc... to many to mention. but they have all been launched by Government or Parliament officials.

The Bulgarian Village Miracle healers and clairvoyants have somehow made their way to the Government.
