The former deputy head of Bulgaria's State Sports Agency, who stood trial for cheating an international football referee and corruption, was acquitted on Wednesday.
Sofia District Court found Ivan Lekov, former Deputy Chair of Bulgaria's State Agency for Youth and Sports, not guilty.
Lekov was accused of using the position of the Bulgarian referee Anton Genov to collect money for the visit of the Italian football judge Luigi Pairetto and his colleague Alexis Ponet in Bulgaria in 2006. The two guests arrived in the country as members of UEFA Referee Committee....
