Commenting article: Scores of Policemen Protest in Bulgaria Capital

A huge crowd joined the protest rally of Sofia's policemen Sunday.

About 5,000 have already gathered in the "Zaimov" park in downtown Sofia, the Darik radio reporter informs. In the mean time, the Bulgarian National Radio says that anywhere between 8,000 and 10,000 have arrived at the location.

The official start of the rally was at 11 am. The rally is held under the form of an outdoors concert since the law bans demonstrations organized by the Police.

Actually I am in favour for an increase of the police men. I can tell you why. It's not because they are so polite, efficient and make our lives a bit safer. But an increase would decrease the temptation for accepting bribes.

And maybe, I say maybe, they will finally do their jobs...

Why do they deserve an increase in pay? Is it their efficiency? Is it their professionalism? Is it their honour? Is it the way they behave to the public? Is it the way they handle their duties? If they can answer YES to one question perhaps they deserve an increase. Having seen first hand how the Police behave I would reduce their wages.
