Goods' producers, importers and representatives of consumer organizations in Bulgaria signed Tuesday a pact within the initiative "Safe Christmas! Be careful what you buy," launched under the patronage of the EU Commissioner Meglena Kuneva.
The campaign is organized for second year in a row by the private national Darik Radio, Standart Daily and bTV channel.
It is focused primarily on informing consumers on the dangers of some widespread products, but also includes a pact with producers to provide more information on their products.
"If the consumers are not sure about the quality of our purchases in the days of financial crisis, they would never risk their money," Commissioner Kuneva explained.
"We should bring back the confidence in the goods produced in Bulgaria," Darik Radio's Program Director Konstantin Valkov added.
Bulgaria's ombudsman Ginyo Ganev and the chair of the Consumers Protection Committee Damyan Lazarov have also joint the official opening of the initiative.
Report on the results of the campaign will be released in January.
