Dioxin contaminated meat from Ireland has not been imported to Bulgaria, the European Commission reported on Monday.
The information was announced before the Darik radio by the EC Health Commissioner spokesperson Nina Popodoulaki.
Contaminated meat from Ireland has been exported to 12 countries members of the European Union (EU) and 9 other countries.
The EU countries are Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, France, Great Britain, Portugal and Cyrus. The other countries are Japan, Russia, Singapore, the US, Canada, Switzerland, China, Hong-Kong and Korea.
Popodoulaki did however say that this was only initial data and the Commission was awaiting the full list from the Irish authorities.
When asked if Ireland was going to be sanctioned for allowing the meat's import, the spokesperson said that sanctions would not be imposed because Irish authorities have taken all necessary measures in a timely manner.
