Bulgaria's State Agency for Information Technologies and Communication announced Monday a procedure for suggestions about the potential registration of a .eu Internet domain in Cyrillic.

The survey of the Agency aims to find out if Bulgarians would want the opportunity to use the pan-European domain .eu in Cyrillic.

It also allows everyone to submit suggestions about how the domain should look in Cyrillic letters. The suggestions must include two letters, and at least one of them must be different from the letters in the Latin alphabet.

The answers of the survey will be used for the crafting of a Bulgarian position, which will be submitted to the European Commission since only the Commission can then present it before the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).

In June 2008 Bulgaria become the first nation to request with ICANN the registration of a national Internet domain .Р±Рі, which is like the country's present code .bg but in Cyrillic.
