Due to the weekend winter storm, bringing heavy snow and strong winds, many areas in the country are still without electricity, while icy roads have been blamed for numerous traffic accidents.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations announced that none of the country's phone lines and water supply have been interrupted by the storm, but in many places the Ministry's emergency response teams are sill working on removing broken tree branches, hanging sheet iron panels and billboards.

The teams have been involved in 180 rescue operations, while by 8:00 pm on Saturday, the emergency 112 hotline has received 74 signals about trees fallen over roads and vehicles.

In Sofia, the teams have removed 38 fallen trees, 12 of them on automobiles.

There reports of broken trees and branches in the area of Burgas and Varna,.

Heavy snow is reported in the areas of the city of Turgovichte and the town of Omurtag. Near Turgovichte, the rescue team had pulled out of the snow an ambulance, which has responded to a signal about a serious traffic accident.

Snow-ploughs of regional road agencies continue to clean the heavy snow form the roads in the Southern parts of the country: Obzor-Sunny Beach, Burgas-Sliven, Aitos-Provadia, Elhovo-Burgas, Burgas-Malko Turnovo.

There are many icy spots reported on bridges on the "Hemus" and Trakya" highways and on many other roads in the regions of Sofia, Lovetch, Haskovo, Turgovichte and Silistra.

The search for a hunter, who disappeared on Saturday in the vicinity of the city of Sliven is continuing.
