Sofia woke up Saturday morning to find everything around covered with snow and the snowflakes will continue falling from the sky until the afternoon, meteorologists predicted.

The snowfall came after strong winds overturned garbage containers, broke branches and pulled down visors across the capital city on Friday night.

The roads are splashy and slippery but fully passable, Sofia Municipality officials reported.

Snow-cleaning machines are already crawling across the major city's boulevards to secure the safety moving of the public transport and the private vehicles.
