Muslim Culture Center to Open Doors in Sofia

A culture and information Muslim center for teaching of clergymen, is to be built in Sofia's Malinova Valley district.

The announcement was made during the Monday meeting between the capital's Mayor Boyko Borisov and the Head Mufti Alish Hadji.

"The center will aim at rotecting Bulgaria from future terrorist attacks," the mufti said.

"We teach our young generation to be tolerant and we would like to be a guarantors against radicalism," he added.

Mayor Borissov stated that the Muslims in Bulgaria should be given the opportunity to learn about their religion so that they could profess the traditional Islam and not the Islam fanaticism.

He promised to talk to the District Mayor Dimitar Dilchev for speeding the permit issue procedure.

The money for developing the project has been provided by the Islamic Conference organization, which includes more than 60 countries around the world.

The education activities of the new center will be controlled by Bulgaria's Education Ministry.
