The National Strike Committee at the Independent Trade Unions Confederation in Bulgaria (KNSB) has issued an appeal to all their structures in companies bound with Bulgaria's largest steel mill "Kremikovtzi" to prepare for effective solidarity strike.

The companies include the Bulgarian State Railways (BDZ), ports, coal mining, metal manufacturing and automobile transport companies, which, according to the appeal, need to prepare to rally in support of the "Kremikovtzi" workers.

The companies all together employ around 100,000 workers. They are to support the steel mill employees in their demand to immediately receive August, September and October salaries and to continue the production process in the mill.

On Tuesday more than 2000 workers from the steel-maker Kremikovtzi blocked again part of downtown Sofia continuing their protests over the future of the troubled plant. The rallies have created huge traffic jams with many Sofia residents unable to get to work and school on time.
