Bulgaria to Issue Register of Specialized Schools

Bulgarian authorities are to launch a new system of selecting students that need to be taught in schools with specialized programs.

The announcement was made by the Education Minister Daniel Valchev in his speech delivered in a high school in Bulgaria's second largest city of Plovdiv on the occasion of the Enlighteners Day.

Disabled and ill children will be among those, who are going to study in specialized schools, the official explained.

Citing a the results of a research, conducted by the ministry, Valchev emphasized that at the moment most of the youngsters studying in such schools do not really have to be there.

A national register of children with special needs will be certified by Education Ministry commissions in the next year.
