The Sofia City Council allocated Thursday BGN 180 000 for the setting up of a wireless Internet system in the parks of the Bulgarian capital.

The allocated funds would be sufficient for installing wireless Internet in several downtown parks - the park before the Military Club, the garden behind the Tsar's Palace, the square around the St. Aleksandar Nevsky Cathedral and the St. Sofia Church.

In addition, during this first phase of the project Internet connection will be provided in the Borisova Garden, and in part of the Southern Park.

In July 2008 the Oborishte Park, formerly known as the Zaimov Park, became the first park in Sofia with wireless Internet.
