Representatives of the European Commission are visiting the northwest Bulgarian city of Vidin on Friday and Saturday in order to inspect the construction of the so called Danube Bridge II, which will connect Bulgaria to the Romanian town of Calafat across the river.
The news was announced by the District Governor of Vidin Krastyo Spasov. Accompanied by Bulgaria's Deputy Prime Minister Meglena Plugchieva, the Minister of Transport Petar Mutafchiev, and the Interior Minister Mihail Mikov, who is native of the northwest town of Kula, the representatives of the EC will receive information about the current phase of the construction.
They are also going to initiate specific measures in order to help overcome the delay with the construction works.
The District Governor explained the work had to be accelerated so that the bridge could be completed within the deadline - October 2010.
