Bulgaria's Prince Kardam was discharged late on Saturday from the hospital in Madrid, where he spent more than a month after surviving a hellish car crash.

Kardam, the eldest son of Bulgaria's former Tsar and PM Simeon Saxe-Coburg, however, is still in coma, Spanish media reported.

Kardam's wife, Miriam Ungria, who has also been in the car during the accident and was released from a different hospital on September 4.

The prince suffered a brain-scull trauma and his two hands are motionless, doctors from Madrid's Doce de Octubre Hospital have previously reported.

But his breathing and vital signs have improved, according to Galiya Dicheva, spokesperson of Simeon Saxe-Coburg.

The car accident took place on a highway near Madrid on August 15, 2008.
