The European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development Mariann Fishel Boel is going to meet with representatives of the Bulgarian milk producers in Brussels on Friday.
The news was announced by her office, and reported by the Bulgarian information agency BTA. However, the official statement does not specify who exactly these representatives would be.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday Bulgaria's milk producers resumed their protests all over the country demanding that their due subsidies be paid through a just distribution scheme.
The farmers are supposed to receive BGN 60 M in subsidies after the Bulgarian government got the permission of the European Commission to make these payments.
However, according to the milk producers, the scheme for the distribution of these funds would keep them from reaching the smaller farms.
The dozens of milk producers, who protested in 20 towns and cities all over the country on Wednesday, were joined by agriculture producers from other sectors.
A handful of elderly retirees also supported the farmers' protests, and protested themselves against the governments idea to send 5 000 pensioners on a seaside vacation with money from the budget surplus.
This idea of the ruling Bulgarian Socialist Party eventually failed as it was not clear how 5 000 persons would be picked of the country's pool of retirees, which exceeds two million.
