52 PEOPLE FROM 8 COUNTRIES GRANTED REFUGEE STATUS

Fifty-two people, of which 16 children, from eight counties were granted refugee status in June. Refugee status applications were submitted by 206 people, including 56 children, from 16 countries. Refugee status has been granted to 1,122 people, of which 269 children, between 1992 and June 30, 2001. During this period, applications were filed by 7,029 people (including 1,383 children) from 66 countries in Asia and Africa. Humanitarian refugee status has been granted to 1,404 people (including 379 children). 1,302 people (of whom 223 were children) were refused refugee status, while the status of 283 people (of which 103 children) was terminated. 145 people (including 33 children) were extended their humanitarian refugee status, four were not.
