About 60 eco-activists gathered Thursday in front of the Environment Ministry building in Sofia to stage a protest against a plan for development of Bulgaria's Black Sea resort of Tsarevo.

The protesters insist that all illegal construction on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast and in the areas included in the NATURA 2000 ecological network is immediately stopped.

They say that the new plan for development of Tsarevo contradicts European directives. If the plan is approved that would mean the natural park of Strandzha will be destroyed, the ecologists say.
