The seven Bulgarian medics, who were released from imprisonment in Libya a year ago, have not appeared at the vigil they were said to stage in front of the Council of Ministers building on Thursday.

The five nurses, Doctor Zdravko Georgiev and the Palestinian doctor with Bulgarian citizenship Ashraf Al-Hadjudj announced they were to protest as the state failed to keep some of the promises it gave to them after their return to Bulgaria.

The chairman of the Protection for the Bulgarian Medics in Libya Committee Rossen Markov was the only one, who stood in front of the official building. He placed seven empty chairs on the square and explained the medics would not come as they were ashamed of the attitude of the state toward them.

Markov sat with his back to the Ministers' Council building on a chair with a notice saying "We accuse, we wait."

He informed the nurses and the two doctors will announce their demands at a press conference to be held in the beginning of the next week.

The medics insisted on meeting the Prime Minister Sergey Stanishev in day when they mark the first anniversary since their release that came after more than eight years of imprisonment over accusations of deliberately infecting 460 Libyan children with HIV.
