The upcoming monitoring report of the European Commission on Bulgaria is going to be the most devastatingly critical such document that has ever been published.

The news was reported by the BBC on Friday, which cites a nine-page draft of the EU monitoring report on Bulgaria expected on July 23.

The BBC also points out that the European Commission is going to penalize Bulgaria for failing to combat EU money abuses by blocking EUR 610 M.

Bulgaria's changes of joining the Schengen Agreement any time soon might be threatened unless the country's government took immediate measures to tackle the corruption and organized crime.
