Bulgaria Allocates BGN 500,000 to Owners of Chelopechene Blasts Destroyed Lands

The owners of the lands, destroyed after the recent explosions at Chelopechene military storehouses will receive compensations set at up to BGN 500,000, Defense Minister Nikolay Tsonev announced Thursday.
The money will be given to the people, whose lands are located about one kilometer away from the facilities.
"The aid will be allocated to the citizens not because of soil contamination but due to the fact that parts of shells fell on the territory of their properties," Minister Tsonev explained.
He said also that a total of BGN 30 M will be allocated to the destruction of 12 military storehouses across the country until the end of this year.
The Bulgarian capital was shaken by powerful gunpowder explosions, which were heard and felt in the whole city after the Chelopechene military facility, where tons of ammo and TNT were stored, burst into flames a week ago.
