The three most sacred Bulgarian miracle icons with the image of the Virgin Mary from the monasteries of Bachkovo, Troyan and Rila are going to travel to Sofia Thursday.

The icons are going to be displayed together at the shrine and monument "St. Alexander Nevski", where at 6 pm Thursday Patriarch Maxim will lead a public prayer for the health and the well-being of the Bulgarian youth and the cure of the sick children.

The three icons will leave the monasteries in armored cars and are going to be transported to Sofia under the strongest security measures.

They are expected to arrive in Sofia at the shrine and monument "St Alexander Nevski" around 5:30 pm where all bishops from the Holy Synod are going to receive them with chants.

The prayer is part of the new initiative of the daily newspaper "Standard", "Darik radio", the TV channel BTV and the Holy Synod dedicated to the children of Bulgaria under the motto "No to Drugs, No to Alcohol, No to Violence"

Friday, a Russian Church Delegation is going to join the prayer lead by the archbishop of the Russian Orthodox Church Aleksey, the Vicar of the Moscow Patriarch and of the entire Russia Alexsiy II.

Anyone wishing to see the holy icons is going to have three days to do so. Starting Thursday the shrine and monument "St Alexander Nevski" will remain open at all times.

A similar event was held for the first time last year when the campaign "You Are Not Alone" lead by the same media and dedicated to the Bulgarian medics jailed in Libya united the three icons in Sofia.
